As a Law abiding citizen in this country I am outraged by the conduct of the Cambridge police department. There are so many things wrong here I really don't know where to start. Okay, number one: Who called the police on a limo driver with a limo and a 60 year old man that walks with a cane and reported a break in? Did that happen? And So what if it did; a call from someone does not release an officer from his responsibility to respect ones privacy Number two: When the police arrived Gates and his driver were already in the house, what was their demeanor ? Did they appear to be ransacking the residence? Like burglars? If the officer thought it necessary to ask for ID: which I believe is wrong, why was he in the house after he found out he was in the house of one the most respected and famous black men in America.
Now, this is the problem with our country our civil liberties are eroding every day. Like a wave of fascism that crashes against the sandy beach of freedom. Do not let the stench of racism permeate our already fouled air. This abuse by the Cambridge Police department is an assault on all of our rights. To be secure in ones home is one of the fundamental rights that our founding fathers thought so strongly of they included this right in our Constitution See the 4Th amendment.
This issue is an American issue not a black issue or a white issue. Let Freedom Ring
